Edi darling!

Home away from home...that's what this place became for me for the past one year....Of all cities I have been to I haven't found one grand, dwarfing arresting city like Edinburgh...the architecture is more traditional than modern; you won't find the slick sky scrapers, you'll find those tall strong pillars, the sky line adorned with bronzes set atop buildings, and a fantastic castle sitting pretty on a dormant volcano that dominates the entire city. Fairly good population, comfortable size, lovely summer...laid back life...I couldn't ask for more! If you happen to visit this city, suggest you take a train...the first sight of the city centre when the train pulls into the station is not somehting you'd forget in a hurry...
The city played host to the g8 summit same time last year and the otherwise shopper's paradise Princes Street was the scene of protests and marches...Edi residents all got a piece of that; including myself :D
In set is a tiny pic taken during one such protest marches (Neither me nor the rest of the city ever had seen a crowd this massive!)

Nice job ! I always had wanted to go to London (or UK, for the geographically correct you ! ) , ever since my childhood. Mainly because of all the Enid Blyton that I had read earlier.

KK;
The central spire like thing is the one you're talking about eh?...It's the Walter scot monument; one of Edinburgh's famous landmarks
Sir Walter scot is a famous 'son of EDi'...Sean Connery is another ;)
Vidya;
Thanks...like I said; welcome anytime to London; and yeah leave the geography to me ;)

P.S: Be a sport girlie; get over it...the briton american thing..taunting won't help!

oh me into all this ? no dear friend. I love to find myself inside a shoe of this situation.

In fact long back one of my friend wrote some thing on a subject " one way"

it will be like - before you leave let me go for a trip in space to moon and come back before noon with the dust on our soul cleaned up with the shuttel service and then the guy in her poem will say her - no it is not possible moon is far away and i dont want to come .. and she ended her poem as if a bus conductor asskign her " mama do you wan a ticket to moon - she will reply only one way - as all my travel are one way for the fact " I am one way traffic lady"

i was reading that poem after long back and just soemthing struck on that note of concept and i repeated with my own style in a different way as if a man is speaking and he is letting her know you are going in one way trafic and he still trying to make things work out.

If i had been lucky to get into this. oh my good ness.. i would love to take her to venus. ehieheie the roman planet of romance and love though i would love to live in mars - the planet of war and strategies with pluto sextile with my eight house as i love the sublime strategies of controlling the emotions.

hmm I never knew that there exists a song on this theme. May be my friend wrote with inspiration of that song and i on her poem.

By Blogger gils, at 12:45 PM, July 17, 2006

btw..frm wer did u suttufy this foto...too gud it is..

By Blogger gils, at 12:47 PM, July 17, 2006

Point taken...I am removing this word verification from next post onwards...not just because of your suggestion; because I myself failed that darn verification while trying to reply this comment!...now that is too much.
And about cities in Europe...quite frankly, I haven’t seen many; I’ve seen the ones in UK other than that just Paris. And going by that I did not find them similar...may be you might find them similar in mainland Europe; because of the people and lifestyle...but I doubt that!
And thanks for the compliment about the pic...except for the ones in the picture tag post, none of the pics on this blog are suttufied...I shot them :)
All the pics in this post were shot by me when I lived in Edinburgh...
