Rockin'

'You see I loooove music!...'Western' music only you see'
Hmmm...western music, the one they play in those old Clint Eastwood movies huh...I wondered.
I asked 'So what kind of 'western' music do you like?'
'Oh...rock...you see; metallica, Lincoln Park...'
'You mean Linkin Park...'
'Yeah yeah...same one.And Bryan Adams'
'Oh!...that's lovely, you like Metallica, Linkin Park and then Biryani...oops Bryan Adams?'
'Yessss!'
'And you don't like...what's her name...aah, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez...?'
'Oh....they're the best!'
I knew I was close to a heart attack, but I wanted to see how far this conversation could go...so..
'What wbout, Ashley simpson?'
'Who?....oh that blonde girl...she's good, got a bright future'
'Um...in 'rock' you mean?'
(hesitantly)'Yeah...'
Alright, I've heard everything now...Why put up a show that you are a 'rock' fan and put up that phoney 'passion' for music?...especially 'rock' music :)
Ask my mother about rock and pat she'd reply...'those rock stars i say...they're either bald (even women!!!!)....or they got hair longer than my daughter!...and they always seem like they've been electrocuted by the guitar they're playing!...or are screaming their lungs out!!!'...
And then there was this friend of mine...you ask him what music he likes...he snaps back...'Beyonce!...just the eye candy...spare me the music' :D
Now that's honesty!

P.S: I've got nothing against 'rock' :D
I like basalt, granite, sandstone among others :)

Well rock has become like a status symbol amoung the youth. It shows them as hep people in the crowd. Who would'nt like to show themselves as hep? :)
One thing I noticed is Bryan Adams, Britney and Madonna are some of most common names.

And none of them are technically rock stars!..pop yes...rock nah!
May Cobain rest in peace...he must be shuddering in his grave that he would be in the same league as britney!!!

P.S: Madonna rules pop...so if soemone likes her music, it's not so bad :)

Well Bryan Adams is classified as soft rock whereas the others definitely fall under pop.
But atleast people have moved away from those boy bands who were there during the late 90's, Thank god! :)
I accept Madonna is the queen of pop. I too like her music.

i don't see soft rock as mainstream rock...nowhere near the likes of metallica at least...well that's heavy metal anyway but Bryan, bon jovi are more like the pop corn stuff in rock...a few good songs, but others mostly crooning about some lover :D

And right abt the boy bands...and so did they move from the funny table top dance routines like the ketchup somehting!

Well metal is metal nothing near that. To tell you the truth, I have been graduating from soft rock towards Metal. Currently slightly less than heavy metal. But I was never a big fan of love songs. I do like a few metal songs by Metallica.
I can see a clear trasition thats happening in my music taste.

:)) true, when I listen to any of those "western", "rock", whatever whatever whatever, I fail to get the lyrics or the catch in the tune...wonder what exactly is catchy
