Can I place you on hold?
It's a tricky question, almost a hobson's choice on most occasions, you have to say yes! :) And at most times, you happen to be on hold for eternity (almost!) In the meantime that you're on hold, the other end might be genuinely trying to solve your problem or chatting with a colleague, fixing up a drink, laughing at you with other people who have put a lot more people on hold so that they can laugh at you and so on. Whilst at your end, you normally get to hear a song, some good, some not so good. And if it's either Hutch or ICICI you're trying to call, then you might end up hating those tunes however good they might otherwise sound….[I must say you'd better be ready to be on hold for at least 30 minutes before you can say hello to their customer care person] The help desk in my office is nice, they're a good bunch of people almost have answers to every query (duh…they must have one heck of a search engine!) And they play a very nice song….'She will be Loved' by Maroon 5. In fact, last time I called I was hoping to be put on hold just to listen to the song again and once the call was over, it was almost heart breaking to disconnect :( But I had to and then switched to the same song on my ipod…hehehe P.S: I typed this post when I was on hold trying to call ICICI customer care P.P.S: Still on hold! idula matter enana.. on hold la potutu marandhe poiduvanga.. had and youtube link regarding the same topic.. kadaicha tharen apram. it was kinda Indian call centre for an US based company.. sema comedyana link adu..

Ungalukkum intha kodumaiya... yenakku intha ooru vanthathula irunthu intha Customer support'ku phone panni phone panni yen kaathe thenjuduchu... Ithu pathathunu after about 20-25 mins wait avanga pesa arambikkum bothu than phone signal weak aagi connection cut aagidum...

pala thadavai naan indha kodumaya anubavichirukken :( worst thing is u will end up speaking to atleast 5 ppl in that 30 mts and u shud explain the issue to each one of them... sema kadi.. i prefer walking in to a branch for all these.. telecare is more of a pain :(

I hate to be put on hold! I dont care if i am to listen to my fav song,can listen to it anytime! I call, talk, done.

@ Gils HSBC inuru dhandam. Elam adhe gadhi dhan. But oru dharava na Hucth ku call panirndapo they did prioritise. They cud recognise that it was an ISD call and they responded very well :)

Hutch a pona time ditch pannadukku reason-e adhu thaan. i said, u do understand that this is an ISD call and i am having to spend probably more settling this petty issue....andha end thathu pithunu olaruthu. naa tension aagi katha, adhu pesama call-a disconnect panniduchu. then called back to log a complaint against that person, and then redirected to settle my own issue, ebba!...podhum. i dont want anymore dogs following me-nu andha pug nai kutty-a athoda kazhatti vittachu!
put on hold is next to torture I say! Naamku kovam & irritation but like u said it cud be the other way around for them!

Arunkumar; See!...told ya so :) DT, Harish; correct....that gives me an idea, they should have some means to entertain the callers, like by request songs, lessons on learning how to use your phones, anti-stress therapy before they face the customer care ppl etc.....what can i say, i'm a genius! Harish; Idhu too much, naa oru appavi victim :) BSK; me only use aapees staionary, aapees pc, aapees kapi, aapees internettu...weekend-layadhu urupadiyana vela paakanumla!
